Sweet Camelina Oil Dressing

I'll admit it, I rarely make my own salad dressing. We have salad several nights a week for dinner and it's so easy to just grab that bottle out of the fridge. A few months ago, I was introduced to Camelina Oil by my friends at the Solar Drive In.  When I spotted this recipe for dressing on their blog, I decided to give it a try.  We found the flavor intensified after the dressing was in the fridge for a day or so.

Sweet Camelina Dressing
Recipe Courtesy of Solar Drive In

  • 1 cup camelina oil (purchase online, look for it at Minnesota co-ops or buy it at Solar)
  •  1/2 cup rice wine vinegar
  •  1Tbsp + 1tsp dijon mustard
  •  3 Tbsp honey
  •  1 tsp ground cloves
  •  1 tsp ground nutmeg
  •  2 tsp allspice
  • 1/4 tsp salt
Whisk ingredients together and refrigerate until use.

  2. I've never heard of that kind of oil before...interesting. You got me at rice vinegar, one of my favorite ingredients. It adds so much flavor. Thanks Julie.

    1. I am not sure it tastes like any other oil I've tasted. It has a bit of a nutty flavor.

  6. Hello from the makers of Omega Maiden camelina oil!!! Francine from the Solar let me know about your recent blog post featuring our oil - thank you! Camelina is a relative of flaxseed. It's mild and nutty in flavor, and loaded with Omega-3's and antioxidants. We grow it on our family's fifth-generation farm in southern Minnesota. If you're interested in knowing more and where to buy it, just visit us at: www.OmegaMaidenOils.com.

We welcome your suggestions for co-ops or natural food stores in your area that you'd like to see carry our oil. And grocers themselves love to hear from customers about new products you'd like to see on the shelf.

Sunny summer greetings from Minnesota :)
